Are the Seasons Mixed Up?

Norman is currently in high anticipation for the big blizzard.  Actually, the OKC/Metro area of Oklahoma is.

The images are from Western Oklahoma, they’re supposed to have the heaviest snow fall out of all Oklahoma, but the other huge snow storms should take place around 2AM in the Norman area. I left Minnesota a few weeks ago with a few feet of parking lot snow to come to Oklahoma where there will be FRESH powdery snow. Heck yes!

Gary England (OK’s top notch meteorologist) says this may be the biggest snow storm he’s ever seen in his lifetime and he’s been in Oklahoma around 60+ years.

I’m positive there has been even more accumulation since these photos out in Western Oklahoma. Supposedly there have been 8 – 15″ of snow thus far and it hasn’t even quit out West yet.

But, bright and early tomorrow I will take photos of the snow before it leaves us for good. The high for Sunday is 60 degrees.

…only in Oklahoma…

Tornadoes are Poppin’ Up Everywhere!

So, I’m sitting here – watching the weather.   Gary (England) the greatest meteorologist alive is on TV right now.

Why you ask?  The weather is somewhat terrible, currently there are Tornado Warnings, Watches, and such.   At one point it looked like it was going to miss us, then it goes more east instead of north and then it looks like it’s going to hit us.  I’m not sure what to do exactly.

Roomie and I were talking about tornado shelters.   She said that I needed to call Neighbor Boy down the street to see if we could hide in his storm shelter.  I just gave her the evil eye and told her “NO”.   I have searched Google for tornado shelters and haven’t had any luck.   So, Roomie suggested either the closet near the front door, the closet in her room, her bathroom, but nothing remotely close to my room.  We’ll see if anything happens.   We’ve got the blankets and flashlights gathered, just gotta rip the mattress off the bed and place it over us wherever we’re going…but we’ll be okay.  We’re BRIGHT kids and know what we’re doing (for the first time in our lives).

Luckily G.E. or any of the news crew haven’t cussed like in past televised tornado sightings.   It hasn’t gotten very exciting yet….

….but maybe in the next 30 minutes, something will happen.

Hooray for SNOW!

It’s the day after Christmas and what did I wake up to?!  Well it was white, flaky, soft, and packed to make the perfect Snowman; except I didn’t make one this year.  Maybe next year?

the Flakes are Huge, probably the biggest I’ve ever seen them in my years of existence

View of the East side of our house.  There will eventually be a pond behind this house as well as a park.

Workers getting ready to start building the house behind us.  I was loving the naked view behind us, but we knew it would come to an end one day.

SNOW!  Yeah, I couldn’t believe it either.  The news channels here said fat chance, we now are covered in snow. The roads are just wet, but the ground is covered in places.  This is just what Norman needs.  We dealt with lots of ice the week of finals, now snow the following weekend.  I’ve never seen it snow/ice so much in the past few weeks.  I’m excited that most of it is beginning to melt.  I really don’t care for the slippery and sliding of it all.

Our first Christmas in the house and we are getting snow.  You couldn’t ask for a better day after Christmas I guess.  Roomie did get out and do the Day After Christmas shopping.  I stayed in, sipped my hot chocolate and stayed warm by our gas fireplace.  It’s actually coming in handy and is putting off a great deal of heat, compared to what we thought it would do.  Glad I get to stay indoors today!
