WordPress Theme Addiction

I’m starting to have one helluva WordPress addiction.  I love incorporating the new technology into my blog and only see great things from here on out.  This particular theme is from Creativity Included and uses Genesis Framework, which is the latest greatest invention to blogging (or so I think).  I’ll be thrilled to incorporate even more content in my blog than any of you readers could imagine.  Stay tuned for the new blog roll out when it happens.  I’m looking forward to it more than you know!

The WordPress Guru

Turns out that I know more about WordPress than I thought.  I’ve picked & picked themes apart and have quickly discovered that the code that is used is PHP and CSS.  Those of you may not know I have over 7 years of experience in this type of code, not just because I thought “Hey, this looks fun.  I think I’ll learn this all on my own.”  Yeah, wrong; so very, very wrong.  It actually took a lot of hard work and determination to be able to learn these codes and more, mostly it took an amazing teacher pushing me for me to get through the harder aspects of coding.  It was not an easy feat conquering all of the knowledge and more.

Now, I’m starting a new job.  I’ll be known as the WordPress Guru to my clients and I’ll be here for them as much as they need me.  Feel free to shoot me an email for quotes on working on your new WordPress project.

the Future is Changing

Changes will be gracing the site very shortly.  Changes I have been working on for awhile now.  I’m looking forward to building on this site & making it better.
To help celebrate my new blog changes I will be hosting a giveaway.  Be sure to check back next week for all the yummy details – this is one that all ages is sure to enjoy.

A few things have happened around this Okie house, I’ll be blogging about them tomorrow – before The Looney Bin.  However, for tonight I’m going to be a good college student and do my homework.

Gold Canyon Candle Company

I got a few awesome things for my Birthday this year.  Some of those things being items from the Gold Canyon.  Let me just say I LOVE  their products.  I’m hooked.

I have the Scent Pod Warmer.  It’s perfect for my lifestyle.  I can simply plug it in, set it to 4, 8 or 12 hours, place the Scent Pod in the top and just forget about it, leaving my house smelling wonderful!  They automatically shut off after the selected time period and you can start them up all over again the next day or hours later.  Being able to forget something is great,  the Sister & I used Oil Burners from Bath & Body Works for a long time.  Needless to say, those have been kicked out of the picture.  They’re just too messy and you can’t forget them because a tea light is how the oil is heated & dispursed throughout the room and you can’t really forget about a candle.

Not only does Gold Canyon carry candles of various scents and such, but they also carry Homeology products.  These are natural products and can be used on the floor, glass, and there is even a multi-purpose cleanser.  I’m a HUGE fan of these products too.  The scents of them aren’t overwhelming and actually smell quite nice.  Ranging from Rosemary Mint (Multi) to Peppermint Eucalyptus (Glass) and even Lavender Eucalyptus Sweet Orange (Floor).  They all leave a great aroma after you spray them, unlike Clorox, Lysol, or Mr. Clean.

It's a Dirty Job

In July, I took a job working at a company not too far from where I live.   I got up at 5AM, so I could leave the house by 6AM, and be at work by 7AM.   It was a rough schedule for awhile, I’m glad it’s over – but I sure do miss it.  After getting off work around 4PM, I’d head directly to the house and go to bed.  Literally.   The guys at work never “got” it, but I was exhausted at the end of the day.

Just pictured me covered head to toe in dirtiness.  Oh yes, this College Girl had one of the dirtiest jobs of my College Girl career.  I had to be air hosed off constantly before I went home.  Not too sure if that’s a good thing or not, but it sure did make me appreciate everything penny I worked for.

Mama Said…

Mama always said I needed to wear actual shoes when I do yard work. That’s not paint on my foot – it’s blood, real blood. While using my weed-eater, I managed to somehow slice my foot. I think it was the spare string that automatically cut off that came back to bite my foot.

Just thought I’d say – mom you were right!

…this did leave a scar…

The Joys of Garage Sales & Funny Stories

I’m ready for the weekend to be OVER.  I have had fun, but I’m ready to get back to the books & be done with the garage sale.

I must say, this has been an interesting experience.  I have sold more BBW (Bath & Body Works) products than I ever could have imagined at a garage sale & I love it!  Roomie & I have taken 6 large Rubbermaid containers FULL of this stuff and have sold 2.5 boxes worth!!  Hopefully it will all disappear tomorrow during the rest of the day.  We actually have some serious buyers so I’m looking forward to seeing what we get out of all of it in the end.

We’ve also enlisted the help of our AMAZING and WONDERFUL neighbor girl Ann.  Both her & her husband are family to us & have included us in a few outings.  She has contributed tons of things for the sale as well as her friends too.

This experience has been quite the unique one.

We opened around 7AM, with our first customer around 7:15ish and then they really started flowing in around 8AM.  We had a lady who I assume lived somewhere close to us stop by.  Upon approaching the garage & me she looked at me and said I think you have dog poop in your yard.  Very taken aback, I said “No, I don’t think so”.  I KNOW there wouldn’t be any dog poop, I inspect the yard on a DAILY basis, so no – there wasn’t any dog poop.  Then I said we’ll it might be Roomie’s popcorn (she burnt it).  That lady edged closer to the garage & told Roomie  her popcorn smelt horrible!  I thought I was going to die.  She was very rude to Roomie & her popcorn and she let us know that she didn’t like it one bit.  (It’s OUR house and we can do what WE want, so she has no right telling us what to do.)  Then she glances at the enormous collection of all the BBW products lined up against the wall and says how did you get all of this.  Roomie & I answer “We used to work there.”  Then the smarta** lady turns to both of us and says, “So, what did you do, steal it?”  I was livid, Roomie was livid & poor Ann was livid.  We seriously should have kicked her tail out of the sale, but didn’t.  (She spent $1 all the while mocking us and what we had for sale.)

The next thing that happened was the crazy Mexican parade.  A car pulled up to the curb & 5 Mexicans hopped out just as fast as they could out of the 5 seater small compact car and bolted for everything cheap in sight.  One guy bought beach towels, another a TV, and a bag, and I have no idea what else.  We had to hold the TV until the guys got off work (3PM) so they could come pick it up.  When they came back to get the TV, well they shopped some more!!  I wound up selling both of my fish aquariums (complete WITH FISH & WATER) to one of the guys.  Oh & they’re coming back tomorrow to look at baby clothes…this should be fun.

Now, all I have left to take care of is Ellie & our house is looking less cluttered and more like an actual house.  We’re working on making it look chicish and doing the “in style” things with it.

Hopefully I will have more to update about tomorrow and the progress that was made.

Update: Life is Crazy!

Since I haven’t updated everyone in nearly a month, thought I’d take time out of my day before I go to work to fill everyone in.

I have been working about 20hrs a week at Moore Medical Center.   It’s absolutely amazing.   Aside from being picked on by some IT guy, I’m finding a better understanding of diets.   Although this isn’t Norman (they have about 190+ patients daily), Moore only has about 25 or less on any given day.

I actually take the tray to the room unless the door has a contact precaution.   Some people go in these rooms (other techs), but I choose to stay out – I actually try to refrain from getting sick.   Overall, my immune system has done very well for me.   I’ve been sick once and I believe that sickness was from my brother, not the hospital.

School is going very well.  I currently have all A’s in my classes and I’m trying to keep going with the madness.   I’m definitely having to manage my time and I’m feeling more and more like an adult because of that.   I’ve actually taken my Physiology book to work to study on my break.  Which reminds me, I need to hit the road.   Work starts at 11 and I need to get to rolling.

Numero Uno

Well I have been extremely busy between school and work.

I smashed my finger a few weeks ago at work (it somehow got caught between the drawer and the shelf this from what I hear is a passing over in the kitchen).  All is well now, my finger isn’t broken although it hurts and is bruised, it’s not broken.  Work has been interesting.  I love my job, I love going to work and like the interaction that the staff has with each other.

School is not kicking my butt, I am rocking school.

A Super Exciting Physiology Exam

I’m happy to report I got an A on my FIRST Physiology exam. Woo hoo! I have yet to celebrate, so I will bookmark that and celebrate later.  I’ve been working a lot this week.   I’ve got 5 hrs today that I will have to go in (both Norman & Moore today), then I’ll be at Norman for the rest of the week.    I think there’s a little over 20hrs this week, but not by much.

Mom is impressed that I’m managing my time so well.   I told dad that all I do is study and work, then he reminded me that I get to see friends too….but he’s wrong.  I haven’t hung out with any of my friends since school started.  I just don’t have the time now.   I can’t believe I’ve already been in school a month.   Just another few weeks to go and I’ll be on Spring Break and working my tail off.
