Rice to Riches

I’m having some serious NY cravings….and lucky for me this NY treat is found in GLUTEN FREE versions!  I’ve done my GF research on eating in the big NY, can’t ya tell??

….I just wish I could hop on a plane and eat there now.  Hopefully this little craving will be rectified soon and then I’ll continue to dream of some Rice to Riches until my next stop in NYC.  If y’all only knew what you were missing out on, this is seriously good stuff…and very addictive.

Laying Over?

We all know I’m taking a trip sometime this month….which involves the east coast…the Palomar…some museums…a really good Army buddy….and one excited traveler.

Getting to the east coast though, can prove to be some tricky business.  Layovers can be crazy, especially when you talk about the fact that I have one layover that’s a total of 45 minutes.  I’m a little frightened by this because ::

  1. I’m afraid of missing my flight, therefore I’ll catch the next flight outta where I’m laying over at a whopping FOUR hours later.  Just say lots of prayers I make that connection.
  2. Planes are very unpredictable.  Hopefully Delta chooses to be on time this day.
  3. I’ve conquered the largest US airport, so this one looks to be a piece of cake…yes, I’ve already looked at each terminal and somewhat know which “wing” I’ll be in.
  4. I’ve been on a whopping 2 trips which involved planes in my life, no I’m not kidding.  Yes, this is going to change just as soon as I graduate. (Totally thinking of my Mom who loooooves to read my blog.)
  5. Just for good measure….in case Delta is late.  That would really put a damper on things.
Here’s your hints as to where I’ll be spending my short & precious lay over time at.  I’m hoping they have some good Gluten Free layover food at least — I’m going to be starrrrving.

…a shooting occurred here April 4, 1968…I bet you’re just going to jump straight to Google….aren’t you?

Home of this place.  I’ve never visited personally, but have heard it’s out of this world and the rooms are lavishly decorated.  The guy was ahead of his time, I’d say.

Home of this NBA team.  Do you know who they are?

If you have no idea who this black haired, pelvis thrusting guy is….well we can’t be friends any more.  Just kidding!

In case you just don’t have a clue after I’ve given you some of the easiest ones in history!

…More Clues

Okay so, I’m sure a lot of y’all still have yet to realize I’m down to 2 weeks until I leave the frigid South and head for somewhere a little colder….snowier…and…well just weather that won’t be anything like what I’m used to here.

 …..Museum…..

…fancy smancy hotel where I’ll be staying out my first night out east….

Not sure where this statue is, but it’s currently on my list of things to see while I’m out there.

…..and we can’t forget Rocky….Lord knows he’s important into figuring out just where I’ll be headed to.

Figured Out What To Do…

My bathroom is done in Zebra….and Bright Red.  I picked up this from Hobby Lobby a few months ago, hung the frame picture-less and debated about what to put in it.  A few years ago, Roomie and I took a trip to Florida (our first) and on one of our last nights on the beach we decided to use our super camera and take some great photos of how wonderful the ocean looked with tide rolling in (instead of waveless days which happened a lot or red tide waves which only happened a few times….in which I nearly lost my bikini top/bottoms a few times).

With digging through those beachy photos I found the set Roomie had taken with the waves rolling in.  I was reminded of the time the waves splashed UP my dress, playing Frisbee with some random guys on the beach (during this photo session) and of course the pina coladas that directly followed our fun times on the beach.  Oh how I miss summer vacations and the beach.

Take a Guess

So you’ve all got one guess.  A guess to see where I’m going in a few months.  It’s somewhere I’ve never been before, which makes this trip all that more exciting.  Take a look at these photos and see if you can tell where I’m going.  I’m doubly excited. Maybe a little because of where I’m going…maybe a little because there should be snow on the ground…and maybe a lot because I’m getting to see a friend home on R&R.

We’ve got a shot of this wacky green mascot for the MLB team of which town I’m heading to….

….we’ve got a Bell of some type…..

….and we’ve got a logo of a pretty great team.  A kind of team we just don’t have in Okie Land.

So,  have y’all figured it out yet?

Sad to Watch :: NY Yankee Stadium

This is something tough to watch.  I was just there 6 months ago.  6 months I stood across the street from the Old Yankee Stadium just looking at it.  Remembering what it would have been like to be seeing a baseball game during the years of Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and Oklahoma native; Mickey Mantle.  Many Greats walked into the stadium I saw across the street, across from the New Yankee Stadium, the one I saw my first Yankee Game in.

It’s a surreal thing seeing this happen.  Seeing something so old and ancient that once housed all the greats of Yankee Baseball be torn down.  This video from CNN just leaves me in shock.  I was just there.  I just saw this stadium.  I do wish I would’ve walked across the street and touched this building, touched what remained of the Old Yankee Stadium.

the Recap of 2009

I accomplished so much in 2009.  It’s crazy at how many trips I took and the places I got to see.  So, to recap at the events that took place in 2009….here’s the rundown.

The Backyard slowly turned into something fantastic.

I graffitied someone’s yard.

I found a love for Framboise

I bought a Netbook with Ubuntu Linux (and named him Gizmo)

Norman was hit by a Tornado

I met Kevin Costner.  He’s dreamy.

I danced as an ALUM in the Tecumseh Dance Recital (don’t even get me started on being an alum, I realize I’m old)

Ate at Grey’s Papaya in NYC

The Boys met Papaw & Delilah

Roomie & I drove to Florida all by ourselves (actually she drove).  It was the best vacation I’ve taken in awhile.

Re-did my Bathroom & Bedroom.

Mom, Dad & I visited New York City for 2 weeks.  It was probably the highlight to my year….well the first 3.5 days were.

Attended my first Yankee’s Game.

Drank Pina Coladas with my feet in the sand.

Caught the Subway.

Met Ree Drummond.

NB was finally out of the picture.

Went Parasailing.

Saw my first Oklahoma Blizzard…14.1 inches of snow dumped in Norman on 12/24…amazing.

Walked through Central Park with Mom & Dad.

Baby Brother Graduated!

Flew in a Private Jet with Mom & Dad.

Set foot on Staten Island.

Made some amazing friends.

Bought my Sony Vaio – it’s awesome – her name is Petunia.

Drove to Minnesota with Mom & Dad.

Celebrated turning 25 with the best friends a girl could have.

There is soooo much more I did & things I saw that I honestly can’t think of them right now.  2009 was a great year and I can’t wait to see what 2010 has in store for me.  Hopefully the years will only get better from here…even if I do stay 25 for forever.
