It’s a surreal thing seeing this happen.  Seeing something so old and ancient that once housed all the greats of Yankee Baseball be torn down.  This video from CNN just leaves me in shock.  I was just there.  I just saw this stadium.  I do wish I would’ve walked across the street and touched this building, touched what remained of the Old Yankee Stadium.

I accomplished so much in 2009.  It’s crazy at how many trips I took and the places I got to see.  So, to recap at the events that took place in 2009….here’s the rundown.

The Backyard slowly turned into something fantastic.

I graffitied someone’s yard.

I found a love for Framboise

I bought a Netbook with Ubuntu Linux (and named him Gizmo)

Norman was hit by a Tornado

I met Kevin Costner.  He’s dreamy.

I danced as an ALUM in the Tecumseh Dance Recital (don’t even get me started on being an alum, I realize I’m old)

Ate at Grey’s Papaya in NYC

The Boys met Papaw & Delilah

Roomie & I drove to Florida all by ourselves (actually she drove).  It was the best vacation I’ve taken in awhile.

Re-did my Bathroom & Bedroom.

Mom, Dad & I visited New York City for 2 weeks.  It was probably the highlight to my year….well the first 3.5 days were.

Attended my first Yankee’s Game.

Drank Pina Coladas with my feet in the sand.

Caught the Subway.

Met Ree Drummond.

NB was finally out of the picture.

Went Parasailing.

Saw my first Oklahoma Blizzard…14.1 inches of snow dumped in Norman on 12/24…amazing.

Walked through Central Park with Mom & Dad.

Baby Brother Graduated!

Flew in a Private Jet with Mom & Dad.

Set foot on Staten Island.

Made some amazing friends.

Bought my Sony Vaio – it’s awesome – her name is Petunia.

Drove to Minnesota with Mom & Dad.

Celebrated turning 25 with the best friends a girl could have.

There is soooo much more I did & things I saw that I honestly can’t think of them right now.  2009 was a great year and I can’t wait to see what 2010 has in store for me.  Hopefully the years will only get better from here…even if I do stay 25 for forever.

I do plan to go back to NYC and take in more sights, but for now I’m going to concentrate on graduating college & getting a real job so I can accomplish just that.

The Yankee lingo, who the heck has ever heard of “dipping” your credit card?  Seriously.
It was Spectacular!  I couldn’t quit staring.  I think Dad was like a kid in a candy store.  Growing up and watching MLB on TV and then being able to see where Babe Ruth played….where Mickey Mantle played….where Joe Dimaggio played…and of course Derek Jeter.  Can you imagine watching the greatest ball players on TV as a kid and then seeing where they played years later?  Just wow.  I’m so glad I was able to experience all of that with Dad, but I’m even more thrilled he was able to experience it.

We were far up, but that didn’t matter to me.  I was at a Yankees Game!!!  A Yankees Game that I had no idea I was going to mere hours before it was taking place.

Mom & I went exploring.  We stumbled upon the Yankee Stadium Museum.  I completely loved this.  I’m such a history fan that this was right up my alley.
Yes, y’all that is Babe Ruth’s actual signature.  It’s amazing to see something like this in person.
You read about the Yankees in history books in school, you read about Babe in various stories growing up, but seeing his name, his actual signature, jersey’s and even a baseball on display with some of his personal belongings.  It all throws you for a loop, a loop that history does exist.  Man, I love history.

A fellow Okie.  Mickey Mantle.  His hometown is about 3 1/2 hours away from Norman….he’s from a small town called Commerce.  I’ve never been there – I’ll make it there, someday.  I’m a Yankee fan, after all.

I loved listening to this band.  Too bad we were rushing onto the next venue and I didn’t get a chance to actually stop and listen.  It was marvelous listening to that sound bounce off the walls of the Subway.  A few hours later, Taylor Swift showed up to perform.
If you’ll remember Taylor Swift hopped on a Subway train for her live show.  In case you missed it, I tracked it down and posted it just for ya’ll.  It still gives me the gitters just listening to it and thinking I was there.
Just one of the many booths set up for the festival.  They were actually everywhere.
Ellie has kin folk in Little Italy.  Who knew?  I may have to take my baby to go meet her relatives, although I’m sure we’d never find them in the city of New York.
Throngs and throngs of people.  It was so much more worse than hometown Oklahoma parades, but it was much better than being down at Times Square.
Hopefully this puts the throngs of people into perspective.  They were everywhere.  It’s truly the city that never sleeps.
Meat over an open flame, not quite sure what kind of meat.  I really wasn’t brave enough to try it this way, especially when I needed to be well for this huge trip we were on.
People trying all sorts of Italian food.  I’m not a huge Italian fan, so I left the trying up to Mom & Dad.
This felt like a scene from the Ghostbusters.  It was tremendously hot down there and stuffy too.  It felt weird down there too, kind of eerie and not something that I would like to do by myself.

Goodbye Subway car.  Wish you were the car I was hopping on.  Hopefully mine will come along soon!
