It’s mid-February and I’m wishing I was on the lake. Batin’ a hook. Castin’ my line. Reelin’ in a big one. But….I’m not. Spring Break will be here soon enough and I think it’s the perfect time to soak up some rays and catch fish.

It’s just bait…but I did it myself. Shocked everyone on the boat, but I’m a true fisherwoman…I know how to do these things.

I’ve got my own fish tales, I also have the pictures to prove those so-called fish tales that y’all think I’m making up. For instance said fish above… He’s mine. I caught him.

Totally kissed a fish. My lips were way chapped after that adventure. No more fish kissing adventures in the future….unless he’s a true keeper!

Gearing up to go fishin’ one year. I don’t think anyone loves to fish as much as I do. Case in point, I’ve fished like nobody’s business every single year that I’ve gone to camp. Every. Single. One. …and this includes the ones I’ve gone as a Counselor.

Proud of my fishy. There are lots of “proud” moments, especially when fishing and especially when you fish with me.

This was the year Gabs and I caught 80+ Sand Bass (not kidding)…broke a fishin’ pole…got our BASS guides boat muddy because we had to get out on the shore…had a ton of fun and couldn’t keep from laughing at random things every 10 seconds….drank a million Cokes…drove a boat super fast and scared our guide half to death…. I realize we probably did much more than I’m letting on; which is probably true, but the truth is we had a blast!

Asked Gabs how big her fish was…this was the answer I got.

Enjoying the cool breeze. Lake waves rolling in. The almost peace and quiet. And of course hanging out with one of the greatest friends — ever.

When the fish aren’t biting, you entertain yourself. Case in point right above.

We definitely know how to slaughter Stripers on Texoma. It’s great being the tallest one of the bunch sometimes. Even when your campers are 11 years old and 4 inches taller than you are. True Story.

One of those years I decided it would be appropriate to use Sun-In. Why I didn’t listen to my mother, I just don’t know. This particular year, I caught the only fish on our boat. I agree, it looks dinky, but it’s a keeper!

One of the few ice chests full of Striper my boat caught one year. Way to go teammates!

Any ideas? I proclaimed I was getting a yellow mow-hawk….that didn’t happen. Maybe next time, there’s always next time…
