I’ve Got a Hungry, Hungry Hippo

….watch out y’all….

Miss Priss is hungry.  Isn’t that the way it always goes?  Lucky for her she’s got some lovely low calorie kibble coming her way.  Baby Girl still needs to shed a few pounds.

Happy Birthday, Ex-Roomie!

My dear old Roomie is celebrating her 24th Birthday today.  So honey bunches, I hope you have a great day and you get everything you ever wanted….maybe an engagement ring is in your future today?  Time will tell.

Love You Bunches!!!

Cousins

You really wouldn’t have had a clue had I not attached the title post to this photo.  But yes, this goofy looking guy is one of my most bragged about cousins.  Blame that on the fact that I’m extremely proud of his accomplishments….AND…he took me out for my 21st birthday.  My biggest accomplishment was being about to handle my liquor and drink everything he did that night.  Suffice to say, I didn’t feel well the next day.

Baby Bro Graduated

He did it!  After 4 years of hard work, Baby Bro finally graduated high school, well actually 2 years ago.  Doesn’t seem like that long ago he started high school and now he’s already finished.  Again, just another example of how fast time flies.

He deserved a good punch or two.  After all, he caused quite the few gray hairs for my parents & had his butt chewed out a time or two cause of some crazy high school antics.  Overall, he’s finished & not looking back.  Oh to be that young again.

Roomie didn’t get the memo that we weren’t punching Baby Bro anymore…poor Baby Bro, he was sure getting his licks that night.

All 3 of us.  Roomie is in flats & I’m in 3in. heels.  Someone want to tell me how I wound up with the short gene?

Baby Bro after his graduation.  Don’t we look smokin’?

Paps & his grand kids.  Not too sure there has ever been a prouder moment.

My Backyard Will Never Look the Same

Anyone every read the book ‘The Digging-Est Dog’.  If you have, you’ll know what I’m talking about and if not, it’s definitely the BEST children’s book and one my Nanny used to read to me all the time when I was little.

In short, the book is about a dog who loves to dig, that is after he learns how to dig.  He digs and digs and digs some more, until finally he has dug up the entire town.

I dug my way right through the town.
I dug a lot of buildings down.

I was having so much fun!
I dug up Highway Eighty-One.

My oh my, I love that book.  Highway Eighty-One runs right through Duncan, which is where Paps lives, so growing up the book had a special meaning.

Which brings me to this photo.  Dear ole’ Zoe decided to break out her Digging-Est skills….in my FLOWER POT!  My poor phlox has been through so much, being a newly transplant and all.  I sure hope it survives the wrath of Zoe-licious.  Heaven knows, it’ll be a miracle if I can get anything to bloom in the next few years.  Fingers crossed I can break this habit or my backyard oasis is going to be just an plain ole’ ordinary backyard.  Lord knows, that won’t fly with me, so here’s to being outside all that I can this summer and making my backyard pretty again.

Oh dear.  Zoe.  What am I going to do with you?

Trust Em’. They’re Professionals

All aboard!  The cousins are having fun & I’m in charge.  This was long before the 4th cousin came into the picture.  Needless to say, we now have much more fun hanging out. Haha!

My cousins are professionals when doing make up.  You’ve just gotta trust your instincts, go with your gut feeling and let them have fun.  So what if you walk around the rest of the day with goo dropping down your face?  So what if there’s lipstick on your eyelids?  The thing is they’ve had fun and so have you.

Got it from My Oma

Oma always has said charcoal is good for you.  So while cooking a delicious steak the other day I took her advice literally.  Well actually it wasn’t my intention of cooking my steak in an extra crispy sorta way, it just happened.  Pan frying steak is my way of cooking steak, especially when it’s just me.    So you can expect an extra crispy medium rare steak when you come to visit and want a pan fried steak.  Well, it’ll still be medium rare, but that’s the only way steaks are allowed to be cooked round these parts.

So Oma, thanks for teaching me that charcoal is a great thing for you & I didn’t need to give this one to the dogs!

Does She Ever Sleep?

It doesn’t look like this one is willing to go to sleep tonight…..

Worn Out

Would you look at that little baby?  She’s finally asleep, which means I’m headed that way now too.  Night y’all!

Best Buds

Either they’re super close buddies or trouble makers.  I haven’t figured out which one they are quite yet, but I’m thinking it’s closer to the latter one.  Pretty sure you can see that in their eyes right about now…

When Zoe Attacks

One late college girl night, the girls decided it would be fun to not  to go to bed when they should and instead stay up and party most of the night.  This is what happens at midnight when all the normal working folk are sleeping.

Nom Nom Nom…Cheez-Its

I’m on a kick with all of these old photos laying around — actually they’re on my network.  I’ve been having a great time pulling them down and slapping them online.  This way not only can I look back on them, but my family & friends can too!  I miss the baby stage of all of my younger cousins.  They were definitely a hand full, but definitely a joy to have around then as much as they are now!  This was Drewbie’s first go ’round at having Cheez-It’s & let me tell you — he enjoyed them then & still does.

3′s a Charm

It may not be the best picture, but it definitely shows that there is never a dull moment at my home when Joey comes to visit.  Lord knows what I’d do if I had three dogs, but there is one thing for sure, he sure knows how to wear out his welcome and fast!

Shhhh….She’s Asleep

Is this not pitiful.  She fell asleep this way, although I’d expect a toy and not a rope.  But, then again, I’m not a dog.

From the Arkansas Archives

Strumming from some old memory cards I ran across these….let’s try 19 years old…with hardly a care in the world.  I hadn’t even started college for crying out loud.

Short hair….and tan.   Those were the days.

Whitney Lou shortly after her nap.  Can you tell?  Crazy untamed hair and such.

Something I’ll never let my cousin live down.  The one time he wanted to be a cheerleader.  Cracks me up…such a cutie pie!

A Great Day to Relax

Miss. Thang is lounging around today.  As she should be.  She’s come to live full time at my house these days as I have full custody of Zoe now.  Kinda crazy how I’ve come to acquire two dogs, when Daddy-O was adamant that I only needed one dog not too long ago.  Actually, if it hadn’t been for the Fish On comment he made a few years ago, Ellie would never have existed.  Now, she has a playmate.

So, today both fur babies are relaxing & taking it easy.  Mostly because I am and really prefer to hang out on the couch and wait on a few important phone calls that are supposed to take place.  Thankful for my cuddle buddies, they’re keeping me company as Roomie isn’t here and is set to graduate in just a few short weeks.  How exciting for her!!

Where’d She Go?

Where oh where did Zoe go?  One night while I was getting ready for bed I noticed my sidekick had disappeared on me.  I called her, checked all the rooms and even the ones I had recently shut to see if I had shut poor Miss Zoe in a room.  After spending roughly 30 minutes going through the rooms in my house, it finally donned on me to check her crate.  Now, this isn’t normal behavior.  Normally, she’s a step behind me no matter where I’m at, kitchen included —- haha.

But on this night, I found ZoZo snuggled up in her crate.  A BIG first.  My fur baby had decided to go to bed on her own.  Guess I wore her out?  ….wrong…. within 10 minutes this crazy pooch was up and running around, chasing Ellie, being needy and running laps in my living room just for fun.  Crazy girl.

Freshly Graduated

Digging through some old photographs, I came across this one.  It was taken at our family reunion with some fellow Okie cousins we never knew we had.  Funny how family reunions are that way.  It was taken a month after I graduated high school.  Back when Roomie was still in high school & I was off to college in the small town of Ada.  Roomie & I have changed more than I realized and it’s not just our hair colors.  It’s crazy that this photo is almost 10 years old.  Keep your eyes peeled, I just might post some flashback photos every now & then.

And So the Party Begins…

The stare down has started…

Snuggled Up

It’s late…and I’m calling it a night.  Goodnight y’all.  No snuggle buddies this evening, they’re passed out in their crates.
