Wordless Wednesday :: Weeeee

Flyin’ sideways.  Little Man is quite the Daredevil.  I love to push him as high and fast as possible when I hang out with him.  Live dangerously is the only way to go around him.  I can only bet that those Daredevilish tendencies will become more present with age.

the Recap of 2009

I accomplished so much in 2009.  It’s crazy at how many trips I took and the places I got to see.  So, to recap at the events that took place in 2009….here’s the rundown.

The Backyard slowly turned into something fantastic.

I graffitied someone’s yard.

I found a love for Framboise

I bought a Netbook with Ubuntu Linux (and named him Gizmo)

Norman was hit by a Tornado

I met Kevin Costner.  He’s dreamy.

I danced as an ALUM in the Tecumseh Dance Recital (don’t even get me started on being an alum, I realize I’m old)

Ate at Grey’s Papaya in NYC

The Boys met Papaw & Delilah

Roomie & I drove to Florida all by ourselves (actually she drove).  It was the best vacation I’ve taken in awhile.

Re-did my Bathroom & Bedroom.

Mom, Dad & I visited New York City for 2 weeks.  It was probably the highlight to my year….well the first 3.5 days were.

Attended my first Yankee’s Game.

Drank Pina Coladas with my feet in the sand.

Caught the Subway.

Met Ree Drummond.

NB was finally out of the picture.

Went Parasailing.

Saw my first Oklahoma Blizzard…14.1 inches of snow dumped in Norman on 12/24…amazing.

Walked through Central Park with Mom & Dad.

Baby Brother Graduated!

Flew in a Private Jet with Mom & Dad.

Set foot on Staten Island.

Made some amazing friends.

Bought my Sony Vaio – it’s awesome – her name is Petunia.

Drove to Minnesota with Mom & Dad.

Celebrated turning 25 with the best friends a girl could have.

There is soooo much more I did & things I saw that I honestly can’t think of them right now.  2009 was a great year and I can’t wait to see what 2010 has in store for me.  Hopefully the years will only get better from here…even if I do stay 25 for forever.

Whitney Does the Robot

My darling cousin Whitney is quite ornery.  She’s into something all the time & loves dogs.  I mean seriously, dog kisses on the LIPS….only something Whitney would do!

20 Questions with Cousin Drew

Over the weekend I asked Drew a few dozen questions.  Keep in mind he’s 5 & still thinks girls have cooties.  I can’t wait to see him grow out of the stage is 7-10 years.  He’s quite the character & goofball.

Swimming Pools

I flip flopped back & forth between the 2 pools at our condo and of course, the beach.  For a solid week I worked on my tan, listened to my ipod, and read a few books.  Not to mention I did hit up the Outlet Mall a few times too.  It was a great vacation and I’m glad I got to spend it with my cousins & the Roomie.

About to show us all what she can do.  It was a week spent perfecting the front flip in the water.  I had to show off exactly what her daring cousin could do, which was a perfect back flip as well as a front flip.  After I did that, I was the coolest cousin alive.

There she goes.  She’s funny to watch because of how she plugs her nose.  Which just so happens to be something her mother does as well.  She loves the water and nose plugs.  Yes, I said nose plugs.  Another mother/daughter thing.

The pool at the other side of our condos.  It was a much deeper pool and I hung out here too, catching all the rays I could.  It was phenomenal having two pools to hang out in and just float and float all day.  I loved not having to worry about a shark coming up from the depths of the pool and biting a chunk out of my raft.  That I truly enjoyed not worrying about.

The pool right outside our condo.  I could’ve jumped from our balcony and landed in the pool, that’s what I mean by it was just outside our room.  Then again, we were on the 3rd floor and I wasn’t going to risk my life for a little fun, so I kept my jumping feelings at bay and stayed on the balcony.

The Girl in the Pink Tube

Look at the girl in the pink tube…see her?  Well the girl in the pink tube is me!  I took my twinkie out into the ocean to catch some waves.  That’s what cousins are for right?  I had to take her out to catch some waves so she could say she wave jumped with her favorite cousin.
Ya’ll shouldn’t be frightened, I know what I’m doing.  This was actually my first time to really get out in the ocean and play.  I didn’t really know what I was doing, but I didn’t let anyone else know that.
I was trying to talk my Shadow into going out a little further than she ever had.  Mostly because I really wanted to catch the bigger waves and wanted her to experience that.  I think she had fun, until she started to realize that we weren’t as close as she had been staying to the shore.
A bit preoccupied with all the waves coming in.  I think my shadow was a little nervous we were out so far.
Roomie was snapping pictures and I was telling my Shadow to “WAVE”.  I think she was just excited to be out and about with me rather than sticking close to her momma.

Ice Cream Fun

One night after dinner, Roomie & I made all the kids ice cream sundaes, actually Roomie did.  I was off galavanting at the pool or the beach.  I’m telling ya’ll that’s all I did my entire trip, I was either at the pool or the beach the entire time.  All of the kids enjoyed the topping selection and ice cream too.  Just check out their faces.  We took them swimming in the pool after this just to “wash” them off.  The Ice Cream Sundae fun was a great success, I think everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the dip afterwards was an even bigger success.

Little Miss hates ice cream toppings.  Really, what kid hates ice cream toppings?  I guess plain is just as good as anything though.  I mean I like plain ice cream every now and then just to mix things up every now and then.

Little Man always has a ring around his darling little mouth.  I’m starting to think it’s a boy thing.  I mean Baby Bro always had a food ring around his mouth growing up, so it must be a boy thing.  He also never looks at the camera, unless you can catch him off guard and can take the picture just as he’s looking up.  I’ve pulled out all the surprises I know how, to get this kid to look at me when I take his picture.
Until you start talking about girls does Little Man look at the camera.  Just for the record he doesn’t like girls.  They have cooties you know.  I love to tease him about girls, can you tell?  I knew if I brought up girls he’d have no choice but to look up and give his opinion and just as he did I snapped the photo.  Woooo hoooo, Go Me!
Now this is what I’m talking about!  A solid love for ice cream!  Chocolate & all, lots of toppings for this kiddo.  This is my Shadow, she normally does whatever I do, whether that’s riding shotgun in my car and of course yelling at boys while we’re driving down the road (after I’ve encouraged her of course).
You could hate ice cream all together or just pass it up.  I could never turn up ice cream.  I love it too much.  I’m a huge ice cream fan, huge.  So, I’m not quite sure this one is related to me.  Just kidding!  We have our love of things too, even if they don’t involve ice cream sundaes.

The Aldridge Family Beach Pictures

While on the beach it’s always mandatory to take those “beach pictures”, you know the ones you’ll hand out for Christmas cards.  Well that’s exactly what we did with my cousin’s kids.  We took pictures and pictures and pictures.  They all grew tired of them after awhile, so I ran with them up & down the beach.  I’m sure their momma really loved me for doing that.  I thought it was a good idea at the time.  Turns out their mother wasn’t sure what to think.  Ooooops!  I did have fun getting to act like a kid all over again with those 4.  Oh, the trouble we’d get into if their mother just left them with me for the week.
Sassafras felt the need to bring her attitude to pictures.  Little miss does have quite the attitude.  No, I don’t think I rubbed off on her.  I love her.  She’s spunky and says some of the craziest things.  Things I never knew a newly 4 year old knew.  Wish I knew what was going through that little head of hers, I’m sure the gears are constantly turning with the things she comes up with.  All of the kids got a little too much sun this day.  Don’t call the authorities, we blocked them up with 50SPF before all the beach trips.  I’m not sure why they got as red as they did, but man Florida did not take it easy on them.  Roomie & I barely used sunscreen :: Shhhhhhh, don’t tell our mom, but we never burnt.  Well I take that back….Roomie sort of burnt on the last day.
The clan.  This would be my crazy cousin who’s kids range from newly 4 to 9.  Oh yes,  at one point it was 4 kids under 5.  I’m not quite sure how she’s survived them up until this point, but in less than 10 years over half of them will be driving.  Now, if that isn’t a scary thought, I don’t know what is.  Maybe I should be thinking about relocating to where this Okie Girl is more than just a state away from them.
