The Camp Cavett dance of 2010 was themed Around the World, which meant a lot of kiddos running around in costumes with spray painted faces. This was a first for me because growing up as a camper, we didn’t do any of this. Our camp dances were just like junior high school dances. We had a DJ and the girls spent hours getting dolled up just to sweat off makeup & have our hair go frizzy from all the fun we were havin’.

The Copperhead Killers

Self explanatory, right?

Lake Texoma in southern Oklahoma is full of Copperheads. For those of y’all who have nooooo idea what I’m talking about…. Copperheads are venomous snakes that are very much like Rattle Snakes —- just without the rattle. Talk about being on the look out for these slithery things the entire time at camp…that is until we had these two come to camp. During the night, while we were supposed to be sleeping, these guys would be out on the camp grounds hunting Copperheads. Which the campers then nicknamed them the Copperhead Killers. Hehehe. Oh the camp memories I have. Can’t wait til’ July rolls around!!

Okay —

Everyone has been posting random photos of their brooms just abiding up on their own. Cue the Cinderella movie where the mops & brooms start cleaning on their own…

This isn’t what happened exactly, but I was intrigued by what was happening here.

What do you think? I’ve heard so many things why this was caused and that the Mayan calendar is something to follow now. Do I believe that? No.

So fill me in y’all. Why on earth did my broom have a mind of its own and decide to go upright for the day? Ideas??

Those Were the Days :: Oklahoma Business Professionals of American

Once upon a time I did this little thing called Business Professionals of America (BPA). It was a fun time in my life, definitely one that I look back on now and ask myself “What was I thinking?” and think “Wow, I haven’t changed much.” It’s been nearly 10 years since I went to my first State Leadership Conference (SLC), which brings up the fact that tomorrow massive amounts of BPAers will be competing and running for State Office. Wish I could be there to experience this, hopefully next year?? *hint*hint* Taylor

You see it wasn’t all seriousness all the time. We had our fun times, for instance hula hooping around the conference area at our Fall Conference. We acted just like any other normal high school students, we just did some pretty phenomenal things this year.

The State Officers at the National Conference. There were many pictures involved this trip and as crazy as it sounds — they’re all mostly digital. Not bad for being business students nearly 10 years ago.

BPA holds a National Conference for students who have achieved 1st or 2nd place at the State level. The year I held state office, our National conference was in Dallas, TX. It was amazing being on the State board and having an Oklahoman as our Secondary National President. Just think of this like FFA. …except we’re Business and not Ag.

The State Officer of BPA for the 2003-2004 school year….oh yes….and David..the National President that year as well.

Climbing the rock wall. How about one of the hardest things I had done. I had no problem climbing just lagged in the department of verticalness (yes, I totally just made UP that word!). It was definitely a challenging experience, but I loved getting to experience it with my BPA team.

Gabs — Please don’t shoot me for posting this! Wanna talk about the person who went through everything with you, here you go. From personal experiences, to braces, breakups, moving away from our parents to go to college, living in the same college town and having our own party nights as adults.

Camp Cavett was a blast as a kiddo. Mostly because we did everything. For instance, hitting up tea time directly after we had been tubing at the lake was totally something we would do. Lake hair, swim suits and crazy hair. Getting to have tea time with one of the best friends every? Priceless.
