About Me

Life is never boring here in Oklahoma. Between Blizzard like conditions on the first day of Spring or Tornadoes on the first day of Fall, we’ve got enough weather to go around. If the weather isn’t enough to keep you occupied, well my life will be.

I am currently studying at the University of Oklahoma, where I’m double majoring in Management Information Systems (MIS) and Accounting. There have been thoughts about changing up my degree of study, but for right now I’m leaving it just like that. A dual degree…and possibly a minor. Gasp. The book worm continues her college education – or is it her college career? My closet is full of books I’ve collected over the years of attending college, maybe I’ll continue on that trend? I’ve gotta keep y’all on your toes, you just never know what I’ll do next. I’m thinking there’s always Law School.

When I’m not collecting all these college textbooks, staring at infinite lines of code or letting my current classes consume my life; I take part in a Zumba class or two when my school schedule allows, ride a dirt bike that I have lovingly named Carlos and do normal college girl things. I’ve been known to hang out at The Library or The Mont, two of my favorite establishments here in Norman. As a funny side note to The Library and one that I’ll never forget. The first time I decided to go to The Library it was on a date. Dad had called and asked what I was up to, so I told him, I’m walking out the door – I’m going to the Library. Although, this may sound odd coming from a college girl at 9 or 10 o’clock at night, Dad thought I was going to study. I didn’t tell him any differently and didn’t bother correcting him either. Fast forward almost a year later, my Uncle shows up down here in Norman for a visit. He asks if there are any good places to go grab a drink. I mention the Library – Dad looks puzzled. It was then I had to explain The Library was a place you go to have a drink and chit chat. I mean you can study there too, study the guys that walk in the door! This has now turned into a joke among our family members and now I must clarify when I go to the Library.

I try to be very active and step outside the box all the time. There are a few new activities I’ll be getting into shortly, but for right now I’m concentrating on rocking out the trails on my dirt bike and listening to music while doing so. I’m not a Motocross girl by any means, but I do love jumping. I’ve taken to riding the trails off in the woods, through the sandy 180 degree turns, through brush, over logs, around corners and over hills. I’ve also found a love for jumping. I had no idea what I was doing the first time I did jump. Pulling back hard on the throttle as you’re about to hit a jump will literally push you out over the edge and instead of rolling down the other side, your bike just doesn’t hit the ground. It’s the most amazing feeling in the world. Now, I’m known to all of my friends as an Adrenaline Junkie. I’ll take that compliment.

As for the blogging side of things….

I began blogging in the Spring of 2007. I didn’t know where to start actually, like most of you all. It was a time when Blogger was the only format I wanted to fool with and had too much on my plate to consider much else. The name of my blog changed constantly and so did the headers, cool fonts and layouts to boot. It was hard to stick to just one thing, especially when there are so many options out there for bloggers these days. In January of 2010 I began to dream bigger. I literally had thousands of ideas and between beginning a new semester in school and trying to find a happy medium with my life my vision slowly began to come to life. I remember sitting down with a pen and paper and sketching out the layout of my new site. Not just the pretty fun girlie side, but the bones to the site. How it would flow. How the links would mesh. How to come up with a concept that was different from the rest of the blogging world. I relied heavily on the skills I had picked up from High School and countless hours of research.

I have over 10 years of experience in programming languages such as HTML, CSS, PHP and XML. While in High School, I attended Gordon Cooper Technology Center and obtained an E-Commerce Degree in Site Developing. Those are mighty big skills for a High Schooler to have, believe me. When I’d try to explain the skills I had to my classmates, their eyes would glaze over like Krispy Kreme doughnuts. It was a sight to see. Through my years of training, I have acquired skills using MySQL, phpMyAdmin and even Oracle training. By using WordPress I have honed in on my skills and the possibilities are becoming endless.

Hopefully I have given insight on my background and about who I am. I look forward to working with you in the future on any websites you may have questions with.
