Shake Your Tailfeathers

This coming Friday & Saturday I will be having the time of my life (well at least for this semester).  What is it you ask?   Why, I will be DANCING in my old Dance Company’s recital.

It only happens once every 10 years, so this is special.   Luckily, I’m still young enough to be flexible, but oh so old enough to be a dang alumni.  Seriously….really?  When did I start being referred to as an alumni?  It just makes me feel ridiculously old.

Onto the recital. 2, 3 minute dances.  2 front row appearances.   Our alumni dance is a collaborative dance with 4 SENIOR dances over the past 10 years, all of them are from my dances.  So far it’s just a bunch of 25 – 30 year olds complaining about joint pain & extra pounds we’ve gained since giving up dancing oh so long ago.

With all of that said, I will be glitterified from head to toe on Friday & Saturday.   Our dance is slated to go on at 8 on Friday & Saturday in Tecumseh’s auditorium.   The finale is around 9 and yes, there will be a straight line of around 20 alumni bidding our farewell to the stage.

I finally found my stinky old dance bag full of forgotten dance shoes that I broke out for this one special occasion.

Hope I don’t do any more nerve damage, since that’s what forced me out of dancing and into retirement early.   The icy hot has already been heavily applied to both knees and ankles.

Sounds from Africa

I will function on about 5 hours of sleep today.  Considering I have to be at school around 2 to meet up with my study group, my day is not fairing well thus far.

Gizmo should be sent to the naughty chair for the next few hours.  But he won’t.

The events that transpired to the complete dislike of Gizmo are as follows.

The African sounds that blast from my computer speakers on start up went off this morning, along with a “chirping” sound.  It seriously startled me.  I mean I woke up in fright, no clue as to what the heck was going on.   So – a 5AM wake up call was not what I ordered for today, but I got it.  Hopefully the latter part of today will be filled with lots of White Mocha coffees from S. Bucks.

I did figure out where the mix up with Gizmo occurred.   Since, I had decided to update to Ubuntu 8.10 last night, the update changed A LOT of my current settings.   It created alarms for days that I never approved.   Evolution has been perfected and it is a guarantee that Gizmo will not act up tomorrow morning.

Hooray!  Gizmo & I can resume being friends again.

Oh What a Day

I write this – we’re cruising down I-35 towards Old Navy.  Hopefully I can find some “free internet” while we’re in OKC shopping.

Roomie & I had some pretty eventful happenings yesterday.

To start, we both got our oil changed & tires rotated (pretty sure mine was long overdue, but what can you do).   It was quite the productive day.  Did some Wal-Mart shopping and even spent my $20 gift card Bath & Body Works sent me because my Wallflower was growing mold.   Yes, I said mold.

I must say I’m newly addicted to Need A Margarita Shower Gel.  It’s fabulous.   They did come out with a few new scents.   Roomie picked up the new Butterfly Flowers and Shore Breeze for wallflower refills.   Shore Breeze smells like a man to me and well, Roomie looooves the smell of men – so it’s a perfect.

This just in – Miley Cyrus – The Climb is amazing! It’s on the radio in the car right now.

Ahem, Old Navy has been awesome on giving it’s customers great deals.  Yesterday, we managed to snag a few items at 50% off.   New deals came out last night – at 2AM.  Roomie stayed up to snag those coupons {$50 off $100 purchase}.   I know, I couldn’t believe it either.  We didn’t go to bed til’ well after 3AM.   We had to watch the news after coupon hunting because of all the fires that have seemed to take Oklahoma over.   Nothing serious happened, there were just a lot of sirens and a mysterious green light flashing behind our edition.

Gizmo is Purty

In the past 24 hours I have done no other than configure my Dell Mini 9.   It has already been nicknamed Gizmo.

I have added apps, deleted apps, and even tweaked apps.

Keep in mind, I’m using Ubuntu Linux, not Windows or even Mac.

I’ve used the terminal, which in windows format is much like the command prompt.

I’ve completely fallen in love with the Synaptic Package Manager.   It compiles a HUGE list of software; games & apps and multiple tools used in the every day computer world.   I’ve done a lot of playing and re-routing with that for the majority of the day.
