Thanksgiving 2008 Atwood, OK

It all started with Papaw and Nanny.  They didn’t live too far apart from each other, so therefore when visiting our family for Thanksgiving we don’t have to travel too far between the two places.  Atwood and Allen, two completely different towns only 10 minutes apart.  We tend to spend lunch at my cousin’s house in Allen then head to Atwood to chit chat with more family and then back to Allen for dinner.  That’s how my Thanksgiving goes.  Lots of talking, hugs and smiles.  I love my family and wouldn’t change them for anything.

Gathering round the fire drinking coffee.  Oh yes, this is a divine way to spend Thanksgiving with the family.

The younger generation showed up and I hadn’t seen them since they were shorter than I am.  Now they’re passing the 6ft mark and I have yet to hit the 5ft mark.  Somehow I don’t think I’ll ever hit 5ft, but the boys are still growing.

The girls looking at photos from Matt & Kelley’s wedding.  I love these girls, they’re just a tad bit crazy and related to me.  I definitely enjoy catching up with them every year and of course on Facebook.

My lovely Aunt decided to try some gymnastics.  Perhaps ya’ll think my family is a bit off the wall and they sure appear that way, but to tell you the truth we just like to have fun.

Everyone gathers in the kitchen because that’s where all the food is.  Poor Steve is the only man in the kitchen surrounded by all of the cousins.  Oh my family cracks me up sometimes.

The final resting place of my grandmother.

A Few Random Things

Just so you know, random IM’s are not my cup of tea.

I was nice today.

There might me a dinner date next week.

The laundry saga continues.

Painting the outside of the garage today by myself (while Roomie does some “me” shopping) is not fun either.

On the other hand, I’m having pizza, potato skins from TGI Fridays, and Cheddar Poppers for dinner.

I’ve already got my run in for today.  A whopping 45 minutes for my entire neighborhood.  Minus the new area with the park. Go me!

Agendas

It’s 10:30 and I should be getting ready for school.  Instead today, while it’s all chilly outside; I will put on my OU beanie (yes, I said beanie), OU hoodie, and jogging pants.  Not to go jogging, but to go to school.   It may not be the desireable choice, but hey I’m a college student everyone should be happy that at least I woke up on my own without the help of an alarm after a weekend of sleeping on the couch.

Ellie most certainly did not keep me awake all night barking.   I even think I called her by Roomie’s name at one point this morning while she was barking.   She is now currently napping on the couch in the warm spot that I left.  How is that fair?

On the agenda for today Roomie & I will be taking on painting the garage door.   It needs another coat of paint especially after the incident that happened Halloween Night that involved the trash can, Roomie dying for a coke and not having boxers on, and finally the garage door smacking the trash can because Roomie didn’t bother to look out in the garage to make sure nothing was in the way of the garage going down. Hopefully she will start wearing boxers now :)

Roomie & I will also be venturing out (along with mom) to go to the Black Friday shopping.   I would much rather do my shopping online (and I will).   I have a few things I’d like to pick up.

  • iPod docking station
  • micro SD card for my Blackjack II

It’s not a lot, but it’s all electronics.   I already bought my new camera.  It’s a FujiFilm J150w.   I can’t to get this puppy in the mail.   I just hope it comes before Thanksgiving, so I can try out the functions.

Now, I’m really off to school.  Accounting here I come!

Perfect Date Night

The day started off sort of rough.  I spent the majority of the day cleaning; doing laundry, clearing off the table, but mostly just picking up everything in sight.  Might I add that the house is currently spotless.  Minus the mess that Roomie made in the kitchen last night from her dinner party, her room and the office.  The rest of the house is spotless.

I spent forever getting ready and did a bottle job to my hair (it’s semi-permanent) which will fade and look awesome just in time for Thanksgiving.  I tried on random outfits to the point where Roomie had to annouce if a certain shirt was what I was going to wear….it showed cleavage big time. No, that’s not the shirt I wore, nor was it the shirt I was planning to wear.

I didn’t get a phone call til’ around 10, I normally start my bed time routine about that time.  But, the date had run into problems getting to Norman and wanted to surprise me; which is why he didn’t answer his phone.  Not Cool.  I thought he was going to pick me up, but instead he blows through my exit from I-35 and heads straight to Coaches.  I’m left to fend for myself, so I hop in my car and take off to Coaches.

I think I beat him a few times at Pool (probably just got lucky) since I rarely play and sometimes have trouble actually hitting the ball with the cue.  Which usually entitles me to a do-over.  We went to the Library and made fun of all sorts of people that were there, chilled at the Mont (which is my favorite place to go & chill & order Blue Hawaiian drinks), and finally we went to a club up the street from my house.

We did have to go check my date in at the hotel in town.  He didn’t stay with me, but instead stayed at the Embassy Suites over on the edge of Norman.  I knew he was going to get some place to stay instead of driving back, so I named off everywhere I could think of.  Finally, I remembered that the Embassy Suites had just opened, so that’s where he wound up.  Not the Motel 6, but the Embassy Suites.
I was home by around 3AM this morning and seriously haven’t pulled that stunt since my Freshman year at East Central.  I was yawning literally by the time it was time to tell the date goodbye.  Much fun was had by all.

Mr. November

Yes, I wound up being serenaded today.  In my car, which was parked in the driveway, with Roomie starring at me from the office window.  It just made my day even better.  Nothing like a random phone call and some sweet guy singing & playing his guitar. Mr. November by The National.  It’s Great.

Looking for Astronauts is a fav as well as Mr. November (as of today).  Also, if you’re looking for good music try, Mae.  They’re amazing and all downloaded onto my iPod.  I’ve been strumming it along my side for the past few weeks listening to their songs.

Today was very eventful….but I enjoyed every minute of it.

P.S. No, it’s not Neighbor Boy.

Copelands of New Orleans

Roomie & I found one amazing place to eat while trekking to the beach.  Actually Pops suggested it and at first we thought he was crazy, I mean who goes to a restaurant and orders Crawdad Tails or Fish?  Ahhhhh I do!  Actually I’m a huge fan of Crawdad Tails….huge!  Dad usually knows the best places to eat and Roomie & I have no idea where he comes up with some of these places to eat sometimes, but we usually follow suit and eat where he suggests us eating.  Let’s just say Pop scored some major points this time around.  Roomie & I fell in love with Copeland’s of New Orleans.  Mostly we fell in love with their Crawdad Tails.

A glimpse of the menu.  I had to tweet this and no one knew where I was eating.  It was funny getting to see my followers try and figure out where I was eating at.  Since we don’t have these types of restaurants in Oklahoma.  It was a nice change in pace to eat Parmesan Crusted Fish & then Pecan Crusted Fish the next day.  Yes, you read that right.  Roomie & I ate at Copeland’s for two straight days.

Crawdad Tails!  Oh these things are delicious.  The sauce they came with was great.  It’s called Tiger Sauce.  Roomie & I had no idea what to expect when we ordered Crawdad Tails, I think she was more hesistant of my ordering skills over hers.  For the record, she really did like eating Crawdad Tails.  As for the next day, on our second leg of the journey to the beach; we stopped at Copeland’s again.  The cake was amazing and I even split it with Roomie.  I’m already ready to go back and eat some more Crawdad Tails.
