The Joys of Garage Sales & Funny Stories

I’m ready for the weekend to be OVER.  I have had fun, but I’m ready to get back to the books & be done with the garage sale.

I must say, this has been an interesting experience.  I have sold more BBW (Bath & Body Works) products than I ever could have imagined at a garage sale & I love it!  Roomie & I have taken 6 large Rubbermaid containers FULL of this stuff and have sold 2.5 boxes worth!!  Hopefully it will all disappear tomorrow during the rest of the day.  We actually have some serious buyers so I’m looking forward to seeing what we get out of all of it in the end.

We’ve also enlisted the help of our AMAZING and WONDERFUL neighbor girl Ann.  Both her & her husband are family to us & have included us in a few outings.  She has contributed tons of things for the sale as well as her friends too.

This experience has been quite the unique one.

We opened around 7AM, with our first customer around 7:15ish and then they really started flowing in around 8AM.  We had a lady who I assume lived somewhere close to us stop by.  Upon approaching the garage & me she looked at me and said I think you have dog poop in your yard.  Very taken aback, I said “No, I don’t think so”.  I KNOW there wouldn’t be any dog poop, I inspect the yard on a DAILY basis, so no – there wasn’t any dog poop.  Then I said we’ll it might be Roomie’s popcorn (she burnt it).  That lady edged closer to the garage & told Roomie  her popcorn smelt horrible!  I thought I was going to die.  She was very rude to Roomie & her popcorn and she let us know that she didn’t like it one bit.  (It’s OUR house and we can do what WE want, so she has no right telling us what to do.)  Then she glances at the enormous collection of all the BBW products lined up against the wall and says how did you get all of this.  Roomie & I answer “We used to work there.”  Then the smarta** lady turns to both of us and says, “So, what did you do, steal it?”  I was livid, Roomie was livid & poor Ann was livid.  We seriously should have kicked her tail out of the sale, but didn’t.  (She spent $1 all the while mocking us and what we had for sale.)

The next thing that happened was the crazy Mexican parade.  A car pulled up to the curb & 5 Mexicans hopped out just as fast as they could out of the 5 seater small compact car and bolted for everything cheap in sight.  One guy bought beach towels, another a TV, and a bag, and I have no idea what else.  We had to hold the TV until the guys got off work (3PM) so they could come pick it up.  When they came back to get the TV, well they shopped some more!!  I wound up selling both of my fish aquariums (complete WITH FISH & WATER) to one of the guys.  Oh & they’re coming back tomorrow to look at baby clothes…this should be fun.

Now, all I have left to take care of is Ellie & our house is looking less cluttered and more like an actual house.  We’re working on making it look chicish and doing the “in style” things with it.

Hopefully I will have more to update about tomorrow and the progress that was made.

On A Typical School Day….

….I Wouldn’t Dress Up For Class.  I just decided I needed to today for some reason.  A typical day is the college attire of shorts & a t-shirt, no make-up…definitely not heels and earrings; I haven’t worn either in years and an actual bra.  No, I do NOT have plans for anything after class.  I am coming straight home and cleaning up the rest of the house and getting rid of more stuff.

I look nearly 24 and all “grown up” now.  No, I’m not pushing my age onto 24.  I don’t need to flip over to a new age group any time soon.  Maybe I’ll prefer to look 24, but still be 23.  Yes, yes; I prefer to do that.

Doubly Excited

Since I’m sort of starting to realize that I’m developing a fan base, I should probably try to update a little more….

Well I got on a cleaning whim today.   I cleaned out my closet and both dressers.   The end result, more room.   I won’t be buying new clothes, just deiced I needed to dump some of the clothes from JR high and high school.   Plus, somewhere in there are the “clubbing” tops.  I am thrilled not to look at them any more.  I don’t go out and have no desire to.  So, I have no need to keep them collecting dust.  Plus with all the major cleaning I discovered that my closet can now house me if I ever feel the need to lay on the floor.   Did I mention that I also moved in part of my things into the second closet?   HAHA, just wait until Roomie reads that one…Enough about cleaning though…

I’m looking forward to Hurricane Ike.   It’s hard to believe that less 2 months ago we were all in Galveston and now it’s hard to believe that some of the things we saw will no longer be there in a matter of days.   BUT, I am looking forward to the rain.   It’s FREE water and it makes my grass look amazing!!   I will have to take a picture for all of you bloggers to see…I’ve really done well with seeding, fertilizing & putting turf builder on it.   So, we wound up with good looking green grass this year, aside from last year’s nearly dead sod that we had with tons of weeds and bare spots.  I’ll have to find a picture from last year and compare it to this year.   Funny thing is, dad has yet to say one word about what we’ve done.   So, I’ll just let him think that the magic he worked during early spring did the trick and made our yard look awesome.

President Bush will be here in OKC tomorrow.  He’s participating in some event that McCain is throwing.   Not like I care, but it was on the news…so I guess Oklahoma is sort of important for that.

Accounting Study Break

I’m currently taking a break from studying.  I have been going over accounting problems/equations & definitions all day.  Numbers are spinning in my head along with many pages of information that I have worked through.  I’m ready for my test.  So, at 12o tomorrow afternoon, that’s what I will be doing…taking a test.

I have a great obsession, called CraigsList.  Roomie & I have sold the most bizarre things.  We are currently liquidating our Bath & Body Works Collections, so hopefully we can dwindle it down enough to where we can actually use the closet in the office.  Seriously, we have too much of it and honestly could go a good 10 years before we used it all up.  We have found some great deals on things too, we check it every day just to make sure there isn’t anything we need or see on there that our parents would like…HA HA.

Things are going very well here in Norman.  Although I haven’t been to a single solitary game while I’ve lived here, I do manage to go to Walmart instead.  The entire town is near death we Roomie & I make it out & about during game times.   It’s wonderful!   I never knew you could get through a line at Walmart in less than 5 minutes!  Usually it’s like 30 minutes and 3 magazines before we even reach the checkout place.

That’s all the random information right now.
