Oh, What a Wonderful Learning Adventure

What a visit!   I enjoyed getting away from the hustle and bustle of this big city we call Norman.   It was great seeing my Papaw and Delilah.  Roomie and I stayed 2 days and came home this morning.  It was AMAZING.   Roomie and I did have a fill of black eye pea corn fritters.  No idea it was possible to make that, but they were GOOD!  I absolutely love homemade food.   We even had blueberry pancakes this morning for breakfast, courtesy of Delilah.

But, you can’t say that they did all the cooking… Roomie and I cooked quesadillas last night.   It was “snack” food for the football game that OU decided to lose.  Papaw enjoyed them, I think Roomie and I surprised him on how well I cooked.  If you’d believe it, Roomie and I beat Papaw and Delilah to bed last night.   We didn’t care to watch the football game and quite frankly I was all footballed out.   Next year however, I will ONLY watch the bowl game that OU/OSU plays in and the SuperBowl…thats it.

Papaw told stories about the drinking days.   Evidentially his dad set out 2 jugs of homemade booze on each end of a cotton field (this was 4th of July of whatever year).   Now you’re going to have to remember that this took place back in the 1920s and that it was normal to brew your own booze.  Anyway, Papaw said that day was the fastest he has ever worked and had fun doing it.   Just think my great uncles and great grandpa in a field with jugs of this stuff.   I can only imagine what these McDaniel boys got themselves into growing up.

Mostly Roomie and I reminisced about the good ole’ days of life before college and the funny things we did when we were little.   Overall, great trip!  Can’t wait to go back, I love going to Duncan – it’s my favorite getaway.
